Col Jane Davies joined Civil Air Patrol in 1969 as a cadet in Connecticut Wing. She earned the Mitchell and Earhart Awards; attended Cadet Officer School; and served on several Cadet Advisory Councils culminating in attendance at the Advanced Cadet Leadership Symposium. Davies earned her solo wings through a CAP scholarship; attended various encampments and National Special Activities; and participated in the International Air Cadet Exchange in the Netherlands.

Davies became a senior member in 1975. Her officer career encompasses many squadron and wing positions in Connecticut, Maryland, California, Alabama, Missouri and National Capital wings. Of primary note, she served as squadron commander of Monterey Cadet Squadron, California Wing, and Mt. Vernon Composite Squadron, National Capital Wing. Davies also served as assistant tactical officer at a California summer encampment and encampment commander for two National Capital Wing encampments and one Alabama Wing encampment. Davies is a graduate of the Pacific Region Staff College and the National Staff College.

Major wing staff positions held by include serving as the inspector general for National Capital Wing in 1996. After one year of duty as the IG, she was chosen to serve as the chief of staff for National Capital Wing.

On 25 July 1998, Davies was selected to become the Alabama Wing Director of Cadet Programs. In November 1999, she served as the cadet programs officer for Group III, Missouri Wing. Upon returning to National Capital Wing, Davies held the position of the chief of staff for over three years and was appointed as vice commander in January 2004.

On 12 August 2004, Davies was promoted to the grade of colonel and assumed command of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol's National Capital Wing.

MAJOR AWARDS AND DECORATIONS

Senior member program accomplishments include the Yeager, Paul Garber, and the Gill Robb Wilson awards. Civil Air Patrol awards of note include the Air Search and Rescue Ribbon, the Commander’s Commendation (5) and the Meritorious Service Award (2).
