CAP Visitors to D.C.
This page is currently under development by National Capital Wing Public Affairs. If you have any suggestions for content or need further information, please contact Maj Paul Cianciolo at pa@natcapwg.cap.gov.
Important Note: All CAP units visiting the Washington, D.C., metro area should inform NATCAPWG Headquarters prior to their visit.
Ground Transportation:
The fastest and easiest way to get around the city is riding MetroRail. Day passes are available for all day unrestricted use. MetroRail also stops at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Hotels in Crystal City, Va., provide free shuttle service to and from DCA and are Metro accessible via the underground shops. NATCAPWG cannot be relied on to provide CAP vans for visiting units. D.C. drivers are rated the worst drivers in the country, which has lead to many vehicle mishaps involving visiting CAP drivers. Most wing vans are also reserved for national activities, especially during the summer months. For more information on using mass transit, visit the Metro Web site at www.wmata.com/riding/visitors/visitors.cfm. To let the Web site plan a detailed trip for you, click on "Trip Planner" under the "Maps & stations" menu bar.
Pentagon Tours:
Tours for select groups are offered Monday through Friday, 0900-1500, excluding federal holidays. All requests must be submitted either online or on official letterhead no ealier than 3 months and at least 2 weeks prior to requested tour date. There is no public parking. Groups must enter through the Metro Entrance either by riding MetroRail or walking from the Pentagon City Mall. Personnel over 18 are required to show two forms of photo ID.
